>>1384348>>1384395I'll keep that in mind in the future.
So here's a bit of what happened today:
Where I put in is a lot shallower with a much more gradual declination than I expected. There are forests of hydrilla, with balls of little shad schooling above and through it. Every so often, a predator fish would feed on the shad.
A bridge under the road turned out to be very short, rather a break in a levee than a bridge across a lake. Every gap was occupied. there were two people on either shore, fishing from the rocks, and six old men in boats in the four spaces between the columns, tossing insults to each other. "Fuck it. That's the best looking spot to fish here," I thought, "and apparently it is because it's where everyone fucking goes to fish."
So I moved around the lake a bit. I fished points, changed lures, fished deep, fished the surface, jigged, casted and retrieved, and everything else I could remember from YouTube videos. Nothing.
Not even a nibble.
On my way back to the car, I was rounding the end of the dock where I put in. I noticed a school of little shad right next to the kayak. They spooked, split, and a white crappie somersaulted out of the hydrilla to feed, then return to the cloudy stealth of its forest.
