well, to start with, I'm sure gods chosen people will be axing bolsonaro the second hes no longer useful, so thats good news. Another thing to consider is that even though people are absolutely tearing through the place, the amazon is fucking MASSIVE. I mean, they've found uncontacted tribes fewer than 5 years ago on the peru-brazil border. So while you should get while the gettings good, you dont need to bolt out the door right this second with half a packed bag and a one way ticket. Thats my opinion at least.

Yeah but currently a lot of those destructive deforestation, logging, and mining operations have been small scale, clandestine and illegal. Now if he legalizes these practices you will see deforestation on an industrial, widespread scale, with the rule of law behind the exploiters.

Are there even economical opportunities to visit the amazon rainforest though, or anything somewhat deep into the rainforest? Isn’t it incredibly dangerous (tribes, drug traffickers, gangs, etc) - I have no clue.

Not him, but the problem with the amazon is that it acts as a carbon sink for the planet. The loss of the Amazon would have devastating effects on a global level.

Two wrongs don't make a right. The west was wrong (and still is) on a lot of environmental issues, but that doesn't give the rest of the world a free pass. Climate change has to be addressed at a global level. & fwiw economically, resource extraction is a shitty, dead end road to go down when you are trying to build a national economy.

So just let the world burn then? Do you not realize that is even less fair to the developing world as they are the ones who will suffer the most when climate change starts really fucking shit up (sea level rise, drought, out of season hurricanes, etc)?

I should add that I don’t know what the solution is. Fortunately that’s above my pay grade. Attempting to hamstring countries’ economic success under the guise of environmental concerns will lead to nothing but continued hunger, disease, poor education, smuggling (human, drug), unregulated industry (mining, logging), and war/conflict in my opinion. Apparently throwing money at these countries doesn’t work as we’ve been trying that for decades.

Personally I'd be willing to push a button and genocide pic related, but what I want isn't on the table. Not that it matters, resource extraction isn't sustainable long term and only serves to further fuck those countries up. You are also ignorant about the state of Brasil today. It has extreme levels of violence and poverty in concentrated areas, but it isn't Africa famine-tier like your picture implies. Brasil has a fairly developed economy with some high level defense and tech sectors. The answer to Brasil's problems has nothing to do with any of the hypothetical solutions you threw out there, what it desperately needs is to reduce corruption.
