Spic fag here, i love me some cactus. New age mexicunts and mex americunts are strayibg away from cactus. It hurts my soul, its like a dying cuisine, cactus in spicy as fuck salsa with ground beef is the bees knees. Or how about cactus fruit, tunas, not to be confused with the xhicken of the sea. I love them too. Or the white flowers that grow next to cactus too. Eat them raw and anjoy.

Used to pack all kinds of foods and flavors, but I've become real lazy and just pack hard bread with tubed cream cheese and some jerky now. Instant and nothing to wash after.

I love cast iron cooking stuff it's the tits and for that reason I am camp cook but I never knew of these, thanks for the education anon. I'd seen the waffle irons before but they always looked a little task specific to invest even if I'd love the ability.

I went hiking with a couple buddies on an overnighter in October. We had beans and New York strip steaks. A steak has never tasted better than in a rainy chilly forest, fresh off the camp fire. Goddamnit now I'm hungry.

What’s your M.O. for taking meat /out/. I’ve always opted for jerky because it’s dehydrated, I’d imagine having a room temperature pork chop for a day before cooking would make it rancid?

Not so much rancid but at risk of botulism once it is above 4c.
If you freeze meat it should be good defrosting for at least 12 hours or so if well insulated (think bubble wrap) but car camping with a decent cool box we got away with it for about 5 nights, eat your pork products, then chicken then beef/lamb.

Freeze a steak for the first night, it'll still be good by nightfall. Especially if pre seasoned (salt helps). Jerky, summer sausage, Spam singles. Seasoned tuna packets with tortillas are a great lunch option.

I also use this camp grill for the steak, spam singles.

I toss my meat in this frozen solid along with one of those blue plastic ice packs
meats still cold to the touch until dinner of the second day and could go longer in the cold months
