>>1393665For actually going /out, the only options are the Suzuki LJ/SJ series, the Steyr Haflinger and some cheap asian reproductions of the old jeeps (asia rocksta and similiar). All other cars are to heavy, long and wide for actual offroad use or so old that you won't get spare parts anymore (Willys Jeep, german bucketwagon etc).
For use on trails and very moderate offroading, almost all 4x4s are okay, going from SUVs like the Dacia Duster to almost offroad capable cars like the danish military Mercedes G (lifted, difflocks, short wheelbase - but to heavy for snow or deep mud).
My recs would be an used suzuki Jimny / Santana / Samurai for actual offroading and a surplus G or a heavy duty Landcruiser (HZJ-7) for trail use.
>My first thoughts would be Jeep, Land Rover, and BroncoModern Jeeps and Landrovers are shit. The old ones are acceptable if you do not plan to go offroad or want to mod them heavily.
>>1394047Suzukis are great, but the new Jimny seems worse than the older ones. It's got way to much electronic (automatic breaking, traction control etc) and it can carry only 350kg. Also, the engine is to big to work on comfortably and the 4wd can only be engaged electronically (which often failed on the older jimnys). The shifter acts only as a switch rather than actually shift. I might be biased though, since I still drive a stock Santana where the most complicated piece of electronics is the radio.
