Absolutely brilliant, and a magnificent achievement of filmmaking, yet panned by critics and a commercial failure; and then within 20 years everyone took it back and it's now revered by all as a classic amongst the best scifi and horror movies of all time. I sincerely hope he gets his lifetime achievement Oscar before he dies.
Gotta give pic related a mention. The segment called "...And All Through The House" from the Tales From the Crypt Movie (1972), and later remade by Robert Zemeckis as an episode of the HBO series, is great. Full of earnest holiday cheer and wint'ry blustery nostalgia but of course disturbed by a creepy and very clever murder/predicament. Always gives me them winter feels.
