Sharpening question.
Can I sharpen a mora which has a Scandinavia grind on a leather strop w/compound with no other stones or sharpening tools. Will it just eventually turn more and more into a convex grind? Which is a perfectly useful edge on it's own. Is there a draw back I'm not seeing?

Can you use a strop on an already sharp scandi knife indefinitely and keep it sharp. Assuming you aren't sbusing the edge.

It would take a very very long time to do it. Stropping only takes very small bit of metal off the blade.

just get a basic medium grit oil stone

sharpening a scandi edge is about as easy as it gets

You won't get out chips (no matter how small) or rolled edges on leather, or even wood.

But, if all you're doing is low stress cutting, then sure, you can keep the bevel maintained on leather for quite some time.

The amount of material you remove while stropping with compound is minimal, you would go insane if you had to reprofile even a piece of brass with this method.I have spend hours on reprofiling the secondary bevel on my old hickory using a coarse stone.
Lonny in the video is the kind of dude who actually is /out/ and uses his stuff, not like Backyard101, Ultimate shill tips and Nut in fancy pants.

He is giving advice from experience and is not a tool snob.
