fave piece of cookware?
Mine is cheap-o $5(?) Walmart generic 2 quart non-stick sauce pan (356g) with handle removed and $2.55 ebay pan-clamp.
Also, to work with the 2 quart, take two Dollar Store standard 8" round cake pans (117g apiece) clap them together so rims are touching, then bend rims together in about three spots about 30' with pliers. That creates "locking" lugs so they can be held secure by a couple of these
https://www.staples.com/Acco-ACC72010-Binder-Clip-Mini-1-4-Capacity-Black-Silver/product_477981The cake pans are just right size to cover sauce pan (either side up), which also keeps whatever sits in cake pan warm. The optional extra opposing cake pan can keep whats in the lower pan covered on the fire, and of course both make good deep dish plates. $1/apiece. Pretty good cake pans, too. I've been using my house kitchen set for few years now for about a cake a week.
You could go a hair lighter and get the Walmart 1 quart, but IIRC its only 100g lighter and the bigger pan captures much more heat much faster.
I really like the non-stick for easy cleaning AND less burning. I don't know why special backpacking cookware isn't non-stick.
To go with non-stick I WAS using a small, well shaped $6 wooden spoon but it broke. :( Long enough to not fall into the pot but still "tableware" size. I'm looking for heat resistant Goldielocks size plastic spoon but no luck. Any help?
