I bought this on amazon for like $70. I'm 6 feet tall and i barely fit in it, wouldnt fit with any bags inside unless a small pack. I flew it to North West Territories, it weighs nothing. It remained pretty dry during a heavy rainstorm one night, but when it got a bit chilly and windy I was cold. But probably a shit sleeping bag.

You'll genuinely be struggling. Manufacturers know how important weight is to customers and the easiest way to save weight is to use thinner floor materials and force the consumer to carry a ground cloth. But it all works out the same. Why are you so adverse to carrying a ground cloth? They are cheap, light, and pack small. Also way easier and cheaper to replace than the floor of your tent.

Not necessarily, plus it's more about protecting the tent for from the accumulated abrasion. Even just using a thin sheet of window insulation film will make your tent for last longer. Plus it keeps everything clean. Tbh even if my shelters had a thicker floor I'd still use a ground cloth.

Just ordered an MLD duomid, a lot of setups show it being lifted slightly off the ground which looks great for airflow but does anybody know how it would be in cold/windy environments?

I use the solomid a lot. And always pitch the corners right down to the ground. The back has a slight 'eyebrow' in which can be pitched closer or further to/from ground depending on the conditions. The MLD mids are fantastic in the wind. My solomid is my high wind shelter. Rather than pitching the shelter higher off the ground when it's hot just open the doors. You can even half roll them up for increased ventilation but keeping rain protection.

I cut all the line locks off mine seeing as I always pitch the corners low.

I have the TN2--well, at least it's become a backup tent. Too heavy for backpacking, but great for car camping. My main tent is now a Nemo Hornet 2P. The TN2 is a good tent. I wish it didn't have those little plastic windows though, that's really the only thing I didnt like about it.

Bought in a hurry few years back cause I had a sudden trip. Used 5 times.
I expected it to be a single-use item, but it's actually pretty decent.
Survived rains and a strong storm. Light, easy to set up and dismantle. Fabric is reinforced & waterproof.

Downsides: the rubber strings holding the little roof over ventilation top got rotten* with time. Had to saw in two extra tention loops pn the back, because in the heavy rain it would get floppy and let the water in through the seam. The zipper dick broke off. That's it.
*is that the propper word? I mean when rubber turns to plastic and breaks of.

What's a good poorfag tent? I was looking at a Coleman Sundome, never camped but I was thinking of taking the kayak and fucking off to an island in the pond at the state park or wherever to try and avoid normalfags.
Would prefer solid dark colors for larp but fires aren't really subtle though.

they aren't fancy and they're kinda heavy but it will last you decades if you care for it well and it'll cost you like $40 plus a small tarp to be your floor

Those problems are trivial, mate. I think years in storage did more damage to it than usage.

The size 3 pałatka is for people 180-190cm tall. I don't remember how much the tent made from them is in diameter. Helsinkipop made a review where he counted it.

I prefer to buy something decently serviceable in the low/midrange that won't bother me if It doesn't get used a whole lot, but is decent enough where it can last a while so I can use it to develop preferences and find out how I will use it before upgrading if necessary.
Freestanding, 2 person max, no real concern about the doors or walls, I don't currently intend on going really out of the way on foot, or kayak so weight isn't of major concern unless it's something absurdly heavy for no reason.
$60 perhaps, if the coleman is decent enough to last to occasional use (maybe 2 or so weeks total every year for a few years) then that would be fine to me.

Vents on tents do very little in the way of keeping away condensation. The two best ways are to pitch the sides as high off the ground as possible or leave the doors as open as conditions allow. If you find yourself in conditions that allow neither of these then you just have to accept that your going to build up condensation. So have a way of dealing with it. I a small piece of trekking towel to wipe everything down.

I bought the TN4 when it was $150 on Massdrop, and I love it.
Couple things you should note:

>You definitely want a groundcloth. Kelty sells a specific footprint for the tent that is nice, but a tarp will do just fine.
>Poles are one piece, so you can't split the weight.
>The TN4 is very snug with 4 people in it, but is perfect for 3 plus gear. I imagine the 2 person would be snug with 2 people in it as well.

My friends have i'm very sure this tent, it's a kelty, with 2 doors / vestibules, and they absolutely love it. Only thing they didn't like was very little room with the both of them together, and they didn't have any room to change clothes inside their tent, his wife wasn't pleased and opted to change inside my gargantuan non backpacking, personal resort sized tent, but otherwise it seems very well made, and for me / my thinking for a small tent, 2 doors is fantastic, if you sleep 2, both of you can get out without crawling over the other. I'd say go for it!

Why do people get so worked up about condensation? It's a fact of life. You can do your best to mitigate it but at the end of the day it's not a huge issue. Wipe down your tent and sleeping, pack up, then take the next chance to lay your kit out in the sun.

totally anecdotal, but i have a 19° bag that's nice in the sierra in spring and fall (been down to 25° in it still nice and toasty), but as soon as the temps don't start dropping to below 40° it becomes too damn hot and i have to unzip it and use it like a blanket. and the reason i asked if it will get wet is because down loses all insulation when wet. so either be careful or get synthetic.

As if everyone's needs are the same. Some of us actually live /out/ and have everything we own with us. I stake my fly out as far as it goes, but it does not have a floor under it, and there are slight gaps. Once it has rained multiple days, the ground is often saturated. It's usually mostly dry under there, but sometimes not completely.

There's no two ways about it. If you want a decent, well made shelter then you will have to spend more than $25. The SMD Deschtues is like $140 and is a nice, well made shelter that'll take a beating. Unless you are looking to just LARP in the woods I strongly suggest you save up some more and get a proper shelter.

Silnylon is terrible compared to DCF for tarps. The only downside to DCF is that it's expensive. The thicker versions like 0.75 are even abrasion resistant enough for that to not be an issue

I'm just looking to assemble a starter kit to poke out into the woods a bit, and so everything's been a learning experience for me. I'm very limited on cash and so seeing people recommend buying multi-$100 pieces of nearly transparent fabric that would get shredded from a branch falling on it just rattles me.

That's fair, so you've got no need to chuck big bucks at DCF products. I have a silnylon tarp for over nighters in my local woods when I just want to drink beer and chill by a fire. The material is fine for that. But if I'm going to be hiking for multiple months and my tarp is my home for that period then I am going to use a DCF one.

If you go on Aliexpress you can get these chink 3F UL one man tents which use trekking poles. Can't vouch for them personally, but people seem to like them and they're supposed to be good quality for chinkshit.

Yeah, personally I don't use inner nets so I'd be fine with just the tarp. Grab the tarp first and work out whether you actually need the net inner or not. If you're camping in a buggy area a lighter, cheaper option would be to buy a sea-to-summit solo bug net.

I'm looking at everything under 3 lbs but the closer to 2 the better. So far I'm looking at the Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL2 and its 3F Naturehike knockoff and the Nemo Hornet Elite in their 2 person configurations.

Either the Nemo or the BA will be decent, not ultralight, but a good weight for what they are. Both brands have a good rep so grab which everone is cheaper at the time of purchase.
