It's also wildly more expensive too. 111mm SAK has a nice saw,locking blade(one hand opening too),a punch(an all or owl,whatever it's called...) and bunch of other stuff depending on the model. It's completely fine for doing bushcrafty things like setting traps or friction fire making and you can get them for ~40€ around here.

i dont dislike the swiss army knife. its a lot of peoples first tool and its a fine first tool. Functionally it its just not as a good as a leatherman. I would say even value you wise its not as good as a leatherman. for me my forester is a great car. does everything i need is a great car but that does not make as a good as a land rover defender

Yes. Leatherman is superior. Especially if you live on American continent. But here in Slovenia Leatherman Wave will run you ~150€. But you guys can get them for 60$ dollars in USA judging by shills on youtube. They are also much heavier than your average SAK so they might be somewhat cumbersome to EDC.

I don't need multitool, the only thing I used from one ware pliers, since I carry a knife anyway.

What I think you mean is:
Bear Grylls made a deal with Gerber to manufacture a knife (and a selection of other tools) with his logo on it. If you think Grylls did anything beyond suggesting a few of the knife's features, its colour palette and potentially its general design you're pretty naive.

Most large Swiss army knives are just a gimmick, but depending on its use, there are numerous knives that can be useful and replace an EDC knife as well as covering a number of other use cases.
They are not multitools. That's why, (SPOILER ALERT:) believe it or not, Victorinox also makes multitools.
Pic related is an excellent EDC knife. And unlike many Swiss army knives the blade on this one actually locks.

If you travel a lot, even in the states, you really should either not carry any knife or carry one that is two-hand opening and well under 4" for the blade. There's a lot of weird laws out there from state on down to individual government buildings. If there's a metal detector you have to go through then it will depend on the individuals doing the inspection as to what can't pass through and that can even depend on their mood at the time. The latter can be the same with traffic cops being absolute dicks for whatever reason.

Why do so many multitools have knives? The only leatherman without a knife is the style ps which coincidentally has tools I find useful, but it's so small. I don't need or want a shitty folding knife with an uncomfortable grip, I have an excellent edc knife already.

I have a Leatherman in my backpack and another in my car, but I much prefer Saks for edc, Leatherman is better for /out/ as long as you pair it with a fixed blade. They're different tools to meet different needs. Sak is lightweight, less autistic, but less utility.

i love my leathermen(s). Got one with my name engraved as a groomsmen gift. i use it pretty often. however... this is the most practical carry i have ever owned and i use it the most. this thing is just useful in so many situations and lives on your keys. I fly a lot vacations/trv and go through security checkpoints pretty much every day at work. i am on year 5 with this thing, its never given me a hassle at any security check point. Always works, and its still solid as... well steel. its not a replacement for actual tools, and its not as good of a "tool" as the leatherman but it gets the job done.
