Survival tips?

Any way to live this life and not want to blow your brains out?

Extra info: I have a large SUV and am planning on getting a storage unit while I save up money for an apartment

So do you just don't have the payment in advance and the rent isn't a problem? In that case just sell the SUV and get the apartement + normal car, if you need to have one at all.

Honestly being homeless isn’t that bad when you have a vehicle. If you can get into the habit of sleeping during the day and being up at night, you can sleep practically anywhere without being hassled. Just keep valuables in the vehicle to a minimum. Don’t try to live at your storage unit if they’re not cool with that, you will lose your lease and get kicked out. I ironically had a much more luxurious life when I was homeless because I wasn’t spending money on faggot ass rent. Find a 24/7 gym to shower at, or a truck station if you’re more remote. Most days I just had a coffee, grape juice, and microwave burrito to eat all day and maybe a slice of pizza later that night. Peanut butter, bread, and powdered milk are also good, but you’ll be surprised how much less hungry you are when you don’t own a home, let alone a fridge. Do carry lots of water, though. I only quit hobo life because it emotionally ruined my parents’ live, so I moved back in with them. I also had my truck possessed by the police because it was suspected of being used in a crime. That was over a year ago and to this day they have given me no more explanation or my truck back.

I work the night shift, so sleeping during the day is naturally what I do. I have plans to get a gym membership ($10/month, don't have to pay electricity or water). I'd have no qualms about doing this if it weren't for worrying about the police.

Very few if any people are going to bother you about hotboxing the whip in recreational weed states, though, but try not to do that in front of a playground or something. If you’re not a filthy druggie don’t even worry. I would recommend getting a dog. It doesn’t have to be a trained bodyguard dog, even little rat dogs yapping in alarm is enough to discourage most potential thieves from breaking into your car. I personally had no real incidents except maybe getting mixed up with a different beaner that owned a 2008 Ford Ranger and maybe also sold drugs and killed somebody I guess.

Yes, both intentional and unintentionally.
Living out of your vehicle while you're traveling around is fun, but occasionally frustrating.
Living out of your vehicle while trying to lead a normie life but you have no place to live will take a toll on you both physically and mentally after a month or two. Ignore the van dwelling bloggers, they're trying to get Instagram famous and most of them could leave that life at any time because they or their families have money. If you're living in a vehicle because you have little to no other options you will feel trapped and depressed.
Find a room to rent, someone whose roommate bailed on them or even just a couch to surf. You will be infinitely better off.

Was homeless for a month when i was 17, mostly because the parents thought it would a good lesson to kick me out for a week. So i took some clothes and my car and bugged off. Found a job that pays out in cash on every evening, showered in my HS in the sorta gym like area (not American, so we basically had a football field/basketball field combo with some nearby buildings), and washed clothes at a local washers once a week.

Honestly, it wasn't that bad besides the shitty old car i slept in was a bit cramped and being an evening job i wouldn't really have a lot of time to sleep. After a month they were apologizing and asking me to come back, though I moved in with a friend for a month.

This is my default. Sometimes there is truck stops. When my Portuguese dual citizenship is complete I will move to Europe in the Brazilian winter.

Remove stickers and other things that make your SUV easy to identify.

Park at a friend's or coworker's place and pay them something. Maybe use their shower and run a power cord to your vehicle.

Make blackout curtains for your SUV with cardboard and black trashbags.

Never park the same place in public 2 nights in a row.
When you go to a spot, go to sleep, don't hang out.

Go to a state park and camp every once in a while.

Some parking garages are free on weekends.

I was homeless from 15 to 18 then again for a few more months. This was before I was really into /out/ activities and it wasn't of my own choosing so I'm not sure if my experience will relate, I guess my biggest take away is that you're meaningless and forgotten in a second but only if you want to be.
Don't withdraw from your social circles and hobbies; you'll feel as free as ever for the first few months until the isolation creeps in. Especially in a small space like a SUV.
Basically stay active and social, ask for help if you need and don't use drugs/alcohol as an escape.
