I feel like we reached the finish line a long time ago with respect to technological development in the /outdoors/ field, and that all so-called 'advances' made every year by overpriced brands are entirely based on consumerism. Long before the synthetic revolution pioneering outdoorsmen wore perfectly adequate clothing consisting of layers of natural materials such of as wool, silk, cotton, gabardine, etc. These men were lightweight experts decades before lightweight™ became just another costly fad and a marketing ploy.
