So, I changed my mind on a new bag; and I went with a Kelty external frame, since the new Baltoros seem to piss people off, due to some design changes.
My new Kelty is somewhere in the ballpark of 90L, and I certainly didn't pack it to the brim, since we were only doing an overnight trip; but I did over-pack to get some training for longer trips. The lesson learned is to take a HARD look at your equipment, and see where you can strip down, depending on your trip.
Many of my trips before were by myself, and short runs; this one was my fiance's first, and she expected a higher level of comfort than I do. Comfort is HEAVY, and you have to expect that if you take someone with you. I also have very poor circulation in my fingers and toes, and need a much better sleeping system than most labels will claim (I'm not proud of it, but I'll deal with it).
Keep all of this in mind as you shop for gear. Not saying I'm an expert; this is just what I've learned.
