I think the opinion is split, or what >>142176 said. From what I've seen there are enough sc/out/s who dislike firearms to shit up quite a few threads, but not enough to get them removed from the board.

I carry a glock 19 pretty much all the time. It conceals well, is extremely reliably, and I don't feel undergunned with 15 rounds of 147 grain +p+.

I carried it this week while paddling. Ended up swimming through some class 3 wave trains. At the end of the trip, I pulled it from its holster and shot the whole magazine. Despite being totally soaked, it fired all 16 rounds.

It's a great book but it makes me sort of sad. Like the stories are amazing, if you hunt its definitely worth reading. But the attitude of pretty much everyone in Africa during the 60s and 70s is what led to the ecological and social crisis there today.

That's more projection. I'm not saying you think you have small junk, but that' your way of lashing out at others, trying to make them feel inadequate, because you feel insecure about yourself. Being armed isn't about self-esteem. It's about acknowledging a societal problem of violence, and a system with no obligation to respond (and if they do choose to respond they're always delayed for the urgency).

I have carried an M6 Sc/out/ . It's very reliable, no frills, and breaks down so having it on my pack is simple.

Depending on which woods I go into I have been known to carry something larger to ward off/hunt bears.

No, that's not it at all. You'll get like one troll in a thread like this and then everybody else freaks out, saying that we've got a hippie problem.

The real reason /out/ doesn't like talking about guns is because the gun threads tend to attract day/k/are faggots who proceed to spout off (what a lot of us consider to be) bad advice in regards to gear and technique.

just like the gun guys shit up quite a lot of threads, when we've got an entire board for them.

We're hikers, hunters, fishermen, conservationists, ecologist, gardeners and backpackers. Some are for guns and some are against. This is a board for those who enjoy the outdoors, and each persons connection will be different - thus why we all feel differently about guns innawoods.

I'm pretty indifferent, but I wish that /k/ would stay there, and leave /out/ to be what it is.
