Friend gave based advice- don't work on mountain. You will not get to ride as much. Lift ops work hard. Took advice- got restaurant/food warehouse job.
-Free food. Barter opportunities.
-Completed tasks fast- rode while clocked in.
-Made friends w/cooks- hooked them up. They hooked me up w/free steaks and shit.
Advice to you:
-Get bar tender/back job or warehouse food job for barter/high value peer/resource networking.
-Bring trade tools to pull side jobs for extra cash- you will not make shit on the hill. No one makes shit and everyone is broke- if you don't hustle a side job, you will be a slave that has epic fun 2 days a week.
The resorts will give you a season pass to access all of the companies mountains. You will want to go to other resorts on your days off but cannot unless you pull in extra cash doing side work. I delivered pizza for a month then hooked up with contractors. If I needed cash, would make a phone call and get work- cash. Go to the bar and meet locals/contractors. Everyone is from somewhere else so are exceptionally outgoing- it is very easy to chat w/people/hustle/network.
When you go to other resorts, chat w/workers, tell them where you work. Your goal is exchange couches and learn hits/lines at their hill. Be generous. Give gifts.
-Don't stay at the resort employee housing- you are a slave. I rented a 3 bedroom house and sublet rooms to others and paid less per month than the housemates.
I did all above and rode all major resorts in CO, backcountry, mtn biked slickrock, got pussy, partied at the bars, had epic powder days. Was in the best/fit condition of my life. It was fucking great man! I had the best time of my life! I'm tearing up right now that I'm remembering it.
Do it anon! Just fucking do it!
