when you fall-
roll onto your knees with your face looking at the top of the mountain and have your board perpendicular to the slope. put your hands down and arch your back like you are doing a "cat" yoga pose. turn just your head and look tot he middle of the trail slightly down hill. lift your knees so your board is on edge and push down firmly with your dominant foot. let the momentum pick you up and push off hard with your hands. carve out and get rolling.
for putting on bindings: lessons should always include a part where you learn to put on bindings STANDING UP it is so rare to need to put on bindings sitting down (unless they have a bench at the top... use that shit) for that kick your board into the snow perpendicular with the trail a few times and make an shelf angled shelf deep enough that you you would fall if you had both feet in. use that shelf to counteract your weight when leaning forward to put on the binding.
