Not exactly an /out/ question per se, but what do you guys do for a living?
I'm a uni student (medicine) and I'm struggling to find time to get out more.
Just curious: what do you do, /out/ist?

I didn't actually have much interest in /out/ stuff until I came to Manchester and realized living in a big grey metropolis makes me want to kill myself.

For now I'm working at a taco bell near my house and I leave for marine corps boot camp in 8 months. I go camping, hiking and 4 wheeling when I can.

I work for a residential gardening company, go to uni for organic chemistry. Not bad desu. Seasonality of landscape/gardening work matches up well with class schedual. Make pretty decent money in the summer.

I do painting reconstruction, it pays well per piece and I'm cheap so I don't need a lot of cash to begin with. They call me when they need me, otherwise I don't do much outside of freelance work. Lots of spare time.

I'm also a med student. You really need to work on how you work man, you have the time. It's just hard to use the time you have properly.

Figure out how much time it actually takes you to do the things you think, work a schedule with that, the prioritise the things you need to do vs the things you want to do. At least one need to do should be a major hobby.

If you can't make the time for going /out/ it might just not that important to you - no shame in that at all. But if you wait around to have the time... Well, it's all downhill from here.

GIS analyst for the federal government. Pay is pretty poor, all things considered, but I get to live in a place I really love and it's been good for my professional development. I hate the thought that I should leave and get something that compensates me better, but I'm too damn comfortable for my own good and I cant imagine moving to the city after living in such a great /out/ area.
At least I can get out innawoods every weekend. Keeps me sane.

I'm a freelance videographer/video editor and photographer. Most of my work involves doing content for fashion brands.

I live right next to a protected rainforest so I try to do day hikes every other day but have only started doing overnighters now that work is a bit slow.

I work evening shift support for a manufacturing facility and spend most nights reading books. The only thing that sucks is I don't have a lot of vacation time, but I live only a few hours drive from some get /out/ places.

I'm in England so tuition costs a lot here (though not as much as the US), I get maintenance grants from Mr Government and my normal student loan. This barely covers my fees and rent so I use street performance to fill in the gaps. It's hard work but the income you get isn't too bad and I enjoy it so I can't complain.

I'm a pharmacist.
Unless the snow is knee deep (or deeper) or it's been raining for past week or so, I always bike to my job through nearby forest. And weekends are for hiking and/or biking.

Live on the property and basically mill about the paddocks most days doing grass maintenance/weeding. Pretty comfy, typically dont work with anyone nor see anyone all week

Writing bachelors in early childhood education and development (children 0-5) with specialty in outdoor education and outdoor experiences for kids.
Aiming for work in a nature kindergarten (a kindergarten where the kids are out in the woods the majority of the day) and I would also like to do some writing on my own as a lot the material is getting pretty old

Also work part time in a kindergarten

Pay is not the best when I'm not working full time but. I live cheap so it's all good, get to study things I'm interested in and have lots of free days with no classes
