I know it's fucking winter but lets have a bike thread. Post your 2018 trips, 2019 goals, bikes, questions, whatever.
I have some questions to start. Currently biking in Canada >pic related.
>How do I keep my fingers warm when it's 20 below tomorrow?
Does anyone have recommendations for hardshell gloves with zips for ventilation? Currently I'm wearing thin gloves in the daytime (around freezing) and softshell after dark. Sometimes I wear both but it sucks bigtime if you sweat or there's freezing rain like right now. I'm just going to bag my hands with both gloves tomorrow and the next day, but am looking for a long term solution.. glove warmers don't work either, but toe warmers are a godsend.
>what do you bring with you on your trips and how do you carry it?
I have given up on cooking (you can live off peanuts and candy right?) so now just bring shelter, clothes, and first aid/repair kit. Everything goes on the back rack unless it's winter in which case the sleeping bag goes on the handlebars. Looking for ways to improve my setup so show me what you do (pics appreciated)
>What tires do you run in the winter/summer?
I run semi-slicks on the back and low profile knobs on the front which works well for the summer but sucks ass on ice as I've just found out. Will probably upgrade to large knobs after I get back.
