But there is almost no wild land left anymore, and in modern forests, most edible plants have been replaced by fast growing trees. There, you might at best be able to survive a few weeks on acorns and meat, but surviving long term when every other guy is trying to hunt for survival as well isn't going to be possible.
better scratch that "man against nature" bullshit, get some land and prepare to farm. If you've got enogh supplies for half a year and seeds, you can switch to self sustainability at almost any time (though it depends on your climate a bit - where I live, I can grow cabbages and turnips year round while up north, people can only grow them 9-10 months a year).
