Read up on sailing and save up for a dhingy or small sailboat. Sailing itself is not terribly hard, although affording it is.

when you own a boat, everyone wants to come out with you until 1) you call around because the water is nice and heading out 2) they find out they have to work.

Sailing Fundamentals by Gary Jobsen can work, but probably any manual or textbook for a sailing club or course can work.

It was what I listened to back when I played Minecraft with one of those ship mods. I'd build a big sailing ship, go sailing, put on shanties and ambient ocean sounds like this.

Literally almost anything by Hal Roth.
I personally recommend "How to sail around the word" and "Wrinkles In Practical Navigation" by S. T. S. Lecky. Kinda old, but the info still helps.
This stuff mostly pertains to you if you will be sailing a 22'+ size boat and using it to leave the coast. But, it should still help.
Just in case you were wondering what my credentials were, I have been sailing for 12+ years and I just graduated HS and I had been racing Varsity for 4 years.
