>>1428656>what did you bring with you for the hike up? Can you set up a camp near the summit?The spring is mud season and is probably the worst time to hike any of those mountains. You’ll have suck-your-boots-off mud and a stream running down the trail at lower elevations, and you’ll have snow/ice when you get higher. If you only can make it out once or twice a year, I’d say skip April and May. Its a day hike, but what you bring will depend on the weather. It could be 50 degrees at the bottom, and 20 and windy at the top, so you’ll need to layer up. You can’t camp anywhere near the summit. You have to camp below 3500’, 150’ away from the trail or at a designated camp area, no fires, and from April 1-November 30 you’ll need to rent or buy a bear canister. You don’t want to carry a tent up the mountain anyways.
I’d suggest winter camping before the end of March, or summer camping, which is much less of a hassle. Doing overnights during shoulder seasons kind of sucks
