They're pretty pricey but so is my SOF.
To the OP's question, he should check to see if he likes a internal or a external frame and budget. I'd recommend the SOF, the HSGI Atlas, or the tactical tailor MALICE if he has a hefty budget. The alipad makes it a pseudo internal frame, adds quite a bit of comfort and a great spot for a water bladder.
As you can tell, I'm a bit of a ALICEfag but its a great system, the frame is easily repaired (you can get new frames for 5-10 bucks at your local surplus store) and same goes for the straps. Or look into a Hellcat alice pack for a good one on the cheap.
Other high quality ones are mystery ranch and arc'teryx. My favorite cheapos are kelty and high sierra
