>>1433161I don't think it's quite so dire as that. yeah, you have to put in a few years as a temp before getting a permanent job, but big picture the first couple years of your career are gonna be low paid no matter where you go, and as a contractor you don't get benefits at all except what you secure for yourself, whereas perm USG employees get a pretty solid benefits package.
It can be quite difficult to get any one particular job, particularly if the one you're after happens to be near a big metro area or famous scenic recreation destination, but if you're willing to move it's not so bad. imo.
