necessary /out/ skills

No.1434750 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
What are, in your opinion, the most important skills for /out/ings of all kinds.

**First Aid** is the most important that everyone should have. I did that years ago and am currently working at my Paramedic License. Not just for /out/, it's important for many other things.

**Wildlife knowledge**, this includes everything that isn't rocks. What is edible, how do I not harm the ecosystem, will I die if i pee on this etc. The hunting license is great for that, in germany you get to learn all this in order to pass the exam. I can also recommend doing the fishing license first, it does help a lot actually, and is a more reasonable means to get food in the wilderness, especially since it's easier to get a fishing permit than a hunting permit for an area.

**Navigation** is important since you can't always use your phone or a gps-system. It's not that hard, just know where you came from, find north, go in the general direction of where you came from. Also use maps. Draw stuff on the map that help you, like a weird tree, mountains or other things you might use as reference points

**How to make a fire**, everyone can make a fire with gasoline and a lighter. With a magnesium rod and your environment that will be harder. Also know distances you should keep and other things so you don't accidentally burn down everything. Don't go /out/ until you can make a fire after it's rained. (Then again, do that and struggle, have fun)

Is there anything I forgot?
