How does one get into a hobby like the /outdoors/ when you live in a less than decent state for it?
Has it brought you happiness? Do you feel truly alive when youre out? Are you happy?

Face your depression, get to the root of the problem, fix that issue. Going into nature will only be escapism without fixing the underlying issue. Unless the issue is perhaps something like living in squalor in a city slum or similar.

Otherwise, you'll never get rid of it.

Yes, when I go camping and hiking I bring my sketchbooks and art bags with me. Nothing like drawing in the wilderness all by yourself. Hiking around, looking for locations, making yourself a meal, progressing in my quality of art, it brings me great happiness.

Nah man, I’m from MD too and it’s gotten so old and lackluster. Plus the population density and trash have killed any good spots. Right now, we go into WV when we need to get /out/ and are working towards heading west.

Dude, I would say that yes, it has brought me happiness. Esp. with the snow we just had, you should just put on some boots and go stomp around. Bring some music if you want, but be sure to walk in silence for a while and listen to the forest and your breath. If you want some recommendos on where to go, we got you, but honestly the closest park with a few miles of trail will be the best starting place.
