I am planning on buying camping shoes. For mud, rain, snow but also not too hot for summer, but that is secondary.

How much should I calculate for 1 pair? I thought 150-200USD

Am a trainee, so I have not much money (800/mth).

What should I go for?

Honestly I bought some cheap ass boots at my local surplus (fostex, "sniper boots") not expecting them to do as well as they did. They've been serving me well for two years now for a $40,- price tag which is more than my money's worth. They're not full leather so you won't get swamp feet and they keep the weather out in the rainy wet shit that is north-east europe. Pic related.

Check out if your local milsurp has something similar.

Admittedly, in the winter I pop in a pair of goat wool socks, but I wear those anyway when it starts freezing - so I am not sure how well they insulate your feet against the cold on their own. Any other weather is fine and manageable though.

i love my crocs as camp shoes and muk around at home shoes. big holes are glorious for sandy and gravelly terrain, because anything small enough to get in you can just shake out. my brother got some less ugly fabric camp shoes, and they're always getting filled with shit. though i wouldn't pay $40 for them. iirc mine were $17 in sale on amazon.

I wouldn't be able to tell you, I'm very used to wearing big boots so it doesn't bother me. It's surplus, so assume it's heavier than needs to be and not suitable for the /ultralight/ boys.

Crocs are stinky and thorns go right through them, I'd get some keen water shoes or any other kind of sandal with a good sole.

I actually wear crocs when /out/ most times. I live in serious snake country too, and both times I was bitten were above actual thick and high boots and through pants, so I now focus on watching where I step rather than relying on boots and pants. It's also much cooler and you don't lose as much fluid with crocs and some shorts.

Just watch out for slimy rocks around river/creek-beds. The grip really doesn't work here.

I've been thinking of buying a pair of these wool booties
and then finding some oversize crocs that fit over them
if my shoe gets wet I can just pull the wool liner out and shake both pieces dry and when I go inside I'll take off the crocs and already be in my warm slippers

when I'm 30 miles down an isolated river alone this is what you can look forward to with flip flops. And its just a copperhead, no big deal but another 20 mile float not feeling so good. A big timber rattler and its game over in them sandals

Do you mean hiking shoes or camping shoes? Some people bring a spare pair of sandals, like the Crocs you posted, for around camp so they can let their hiking shoes dry out and because sandals are more comfortable while you are sitting around camp.

Used this for a year in the army, every season from +20C summerdays to -30C winternights and no complaints. Just put some wool socks on, they help even during summer. They are really heavy duty and will last you a lifetime, just remember to polish them now and then.

Can get these for about $140 online
You can get the newer version which is called M77 Alpha I believe, but they're more expensive

I use Miltec Jungle boots, they are budget, supposedly german made. Really comfy, light, they have a steel shank. I wore them a couple of times in the winter and somehow they didnt get flooded even a bit. The quality is great overall, however the glue was utter shit, i reglued them with construction glue and they are indestructible now.

Just got a pair of these.

Something i wish i knew was that the Danner dry waterproof lining is nothing like normal gortex shit. Unlike gortex it's properly waterproof but it's also like having plastic bags over your feet, no breathability at all.
not unusual for a combat boot and i still wear it at 30c but it's a bit too much for my liking.

Still worth the 90$ i payed for em though but buyer beware.

I used wear sneakers when hiking but lately have been using boots and the fuckers do give some extra confidence when you walk. You can kick everything on your way without worrying of hurting your feet.

Anyone every own these Rocky brand S2V boots? They aren't waterproof, they actually have holes that push water out with each step. Expensive as fuck. Figure with a pair of waterproof socks they'd be good.

I'd go for multiple cheap pairs, especially since you'll feel pretty bad for spending a lot of money on a single option that isn't right for you.
Cheap water shoes for heavy rain or crossing streams. Extremely light, so no big deal adding to bag.
High (8 inches+), waterproof boot of any kind for snow, deep mud, and cold weather. Should be sized for use with cold weather socks or steel toe work socks.
Thin, light, flexible sneakers with synthetic materials for everything else--you're going for comfort and versatility here. Granted you might get shit for not wearing "hiking shoes".
So it really becomes of choice of wearing your cheap sneakers or your cheap stomping boots, depending on the expected conditions.

I got those as everyday boots and I live way up north in europe. Everyday use means dealing with snow, dirt, rocks, forests, tree-climbing and such. A bit clumsy to hunt in, but good for everything else. I stay out of water mostly so the holes are not a vital function to me.
