The water is clean and fresh. The mountains might not be the jagged tall snow capped peaks you find in the Alps or the Andes but they're romantic and challenging. You will be surprised to see how few folk you'll find in your wanderings. Also some of the best sunsets, enjoyed with a whisky. If you go to the islands you'll be surprised to find light blue shores and white beaches. Also old stones and forts from ancient people's can still be found standing. Scotland is a shithole but this is the human aspect mostly.
Near more populated areas you can get some comfy walks and as long as it's not farmland or next to a motorway, can tent up.
