I’m moving from the Midwest to the Williamsburg area next year and I don’t know that much about the area. How good/bad is it /out/-wise? I love to hike, fish, and I’m wondering about bringing my kayak. Any good areas I can check out? Also, what am I getting into with the weather?

7cities area here. The Appalachian area is nice n comfy for hiking and trail riding.
Def much more mild winter compared to the midwest.

Williamsburg area is pretty cozy, haven’t spent enough time there to know specific spots but there’s plenty of small parks in the woods and by the water. About an hour away you can check out False Cape, if you go on a weekday you have 8 miles of beach to yourself. You have to rent a campsite but it’s just over the dunes and pretty cozy.

Depends. It’s a wide river but parts can get weird. In Richmond there are some pretty gnarly falls, but i think that far down river it calms down.
