Any man worth his salt can nail one with a Diablo and a sack of marbles/ball bearings. Use my wee .177 these days but have nailed the odd bunny with a Diablo back in the day.

Lead is far more effective than any other ammo for killing anything with a slingshot. Pick over shooting ranges or buy ball fishing weights, 1/2 oz or heavier.
Steel or marbles do not pack nearly the same punch, sure range is reduced, but killing more of what you shoot is better a better trade off.

use ball bearings. the spherical profile is best for accuracy and it won't pollute your food nor the environment with carcinogens.

while lead is heavier, good steel ball bearings (a little smaller than paintballs) still work just fine and are plenty weighty.
