When /out/ alone, I worry only about haviing to interact with another person. There aren't that many dangers innadesert.

When /out/ wiith the family, I worry about falls and snakebites for the kids. I also worry a bit about when my wife's MS will get to the point she can't continue to go /out/. OTOH, she made it to Laurel Falls in Great Smoky Mts NP yesterday (6/22) with nothing more than one foot drooping a bit at the end and she was able to do several small walks later with no problems so we should have a few years left together innawoods yet.

If you were there I was the big dude with a beard and a great dark brown hat carrying a little blonde girl (my daughter) in a Kelty backpack.

Pretty much only the two legged kind of problems. Piece of shits like methheads, potheads etc. I've encountered bears/cougars/wolves/coyotes and usually we go our seperate ways without a hitch, did have to shoot towards a bear once, it had no fear of humans.

/x/ always makes up scary shit but if you really look at it all of their monsters are completely fucking harmless. More harmless than regular wildlife, that's for sure.

Their monsters are always more curious than threatening. They run around your tent and make creepy noises and then they just disappear.

A cougar won't give you the courtesy of letting you hear it coming.
