Do you guys gather local flora? I'm looking into it right now. Kinda want stuff I can dry and hoard like for spices or tea. Any recommendations what to look out for? Any stories?

This is a good combo for tea. The wood sorrel adds a bit of citrus to the chamomile. I usually find them near each other in small clearings and rock outcrops

Not unless I can see the shit while I'm doing something- Gather raspberries I saw while collecting firewood.
I went looking for morel mushrooms once in an area where people find them. I didn't see shit. I hated it. Walked around staring at the ground like I was looking for my lost keys. It started to piss me off.
Leave the gathering for the women. I would rather catch fish.

i gather all chaga i come across
i pick maybe 40 litres of blueberries when their time comes every year
cranberries i just eat straight from the ground
mushrooms if the season is good. good looking chantarelles i just consume on the spot.
sometimes i snack on the wood sorrels.
if i find a good spot for juniper berries i gather lots and dry them to be ground up for spice rub.

I keep meaning to finally try some boletes but they all look so disgusting and spongy (and I'm a mushroom hobbyist). I absolutely love parasol mushrooms and truffles, and think chantrelles and lobsters are overrated. Chicken of the woods is definitely interesting, I'd eat it all the time if I was vegan/vegetarian.

Last summer I harvested blackberries for a wine that's currently in the works (and taste great!). I'm excited for this summer to really step the foraging up.
