You need a license to fish and a license license to fish most privatley owned clubs lakes. Most public waters like park lakes and rivers fishing rights are owned too. Its pretty lame.

Carp in the UK aren't destructive to our ecosystem so culling them is banned and will land you in jail. They're also highly revered in the angling trade, fish like this 40lb+ one could probably fetch 25k

Thats sick. Dedicated carp anglers prefer challenging fishing. We have "syndicate" lakes where there might be a stock of 20-100 fish in 8ish acres of water where even the best line might catch 10 fish a year. You can call them as retarded as u like but they're fuckin good at fishing

It depends what you're looking for but the ACT is my favourite so far, it has a nice mix of everything and most of the public servants consider themselves "above the outdoors" so for the most part it's pretty unspoiled.
My main complaint is that it's two hours from the coast which makes surf fishing a pain but it's do-able.

One of the saddest sites I saw traveling in Europe was a guy with a 12' pole fishing for carp in a 15' wide canal. I think about that when I'm at 10,000ft in the Sierras with a Golden trout on a dry fly. Not to think how poor his situation is, but to realize how fortunate I am.

If you know anyone who fishes ask them to take you out on a trip. if you don't know anyone then just buy a beginners fishing kit, find a body of water near you and start fishing. Don't be discouraged if you don't catch anything first try. Do some research on where you are allowed to fish before hand.
