>>1454665>Did you father go /out/ with you? Oh no, fuck no. My father is a converted britbong that's spent 40 years in sales and tech. The most /out/ thing I've ever done with him was taking him shooting.
>How's your relationshipPretty garbage, he's got rage issues and from what I can tell over my 29 years of interaction with him he's got some sort of inferiority complex and feels the need to come at people strong to scare them away when internally he's just a little bitch, all bark no bite. I got him in to guns (my life's greatest passion) about 5 years ago, which was great because we finally for once in my life had something in common, he ended up buying a few rifles
a shotgun and a few handguns.
He supports 99% of gun control laws and feels we should be more restricted because "lunatics shouldn't have military grade weapons".
Fast forward 3 years to 2017 and he finds out my stepmother had been cheating on him for a few years, he decided to go unhinged and hold her at gun point for 3 hours while threatening to kill him and her.
He gets charged with a Class B felony DV, lost his gun rights and spent a little bit of time in jail.
It was fucking surreal seeing him go from pretty successful businessman making high six figure income, to couch surfing felon.
He straight up lost everything, he has no friends, no wife, no job, is too old to get a gig doing anything that would pay him 1/10th of what he used to make, pretty much only one friend, and an estranged son.
He sleeps on a futon in run down building that his only remaining friend is trying to restore, in a podunk town 45 minutes from a semi-major city.
I see him once a month to get breakfast for an hour or two and then I come up with an excuse to leave. It hurts but after spending 29 years basically not having a real father to do dad/son shit with and almost never getting along, I dont know how to handle the situation.
