My gf and I just moved to Tampa. Anyone know of any nice spots to get /out/? Maybe a long shot but I dunno. This area’s pretty swampass tier and I’m not particularly fond of TOO much mud.

I don't know too much about the west coast. Ocala national forest is alright i've heard if you go to the right part. The cool thing about FL is the water. Go kayaking and kayak camping somewhere. I personally know that the Everglades are nice for this. It's more of a grassy wetland than an actual swamp if you're trying to avoid actual swamps. Just educate yourself on gators and snakes a bit before you go. You'll grow to appreciate the different type of nature down here.

If you make it to myakka state park in south Sarasota its pretty nice. If you're looking to day hike they have easy trails with rustic camping. The trails are mainly plains but there is the river and a canopy walk near the actual campground

I have lived in Bradenton/palmetto my whole life. if you're willing to drive 30 minutes south. You have a ton of cool places like Little Manatee River, Myakka state park. Rainbow springs is pretty fucking cool up in gainesville, Ginnie Springs. Its all only a couple hours drive from tampa. Pretty Awesome places around if you're willing to drive. Maybe share some info and we could meet up or something if you're into that type of thing.

Nice, I grew up in Tampa and moved out of state about a year ago. The place was a proper shit hole but I do miss it in a Stockholm syndrome kind of way.
If you can get your hands on a kayak, take it out with your gear to one of the small islands between Dunedin and Caladesi Island. Might make for a nice getaway, pretty chill and coast guard doesn't seem to mind people starting fires out there.
Unfortunately Florida as you know is a bit of a suburban shithole rife with stingy old jews so most /out/ spots require a reservation and have a designated campground, of those I do highly recommend Fort De Soto Park, Honeymoon Island, Myakka State Park, and Manatee Springs.

Oscar Scherer State Park is a bit south of Sarasota and I've found it really relaxing. It's got a couple nice loop trails and the camp spots are nice.

Like somebody said, Ocala National Forest is neat. It has some of the Florida Trail running through it. I had a good time there except for all the fucking banana spiders.

Go to eagle's nest if you are into diving, only like 40 mins away.
Also, you can go up to crystal river and swim with manatees, although the faggot coast guards might want to fuck with you, but what can they do? It's the fucking river and you can swim in it.
One of my favorite spots in tampa was the hillsborough river state park, you can canoe/kayak and there are always gators around.
The best beaches are in bradenton/ana maria island, you don't have to go clearwater, sarasota, siesta key since too many people go there.
Enjoy it, man, i moved out of the area two years ago and i miss tampa every fucking day.

Just went to Ocala myself, took 3 1/2 hours to drive there but it was worth it. Great state park and just south of Ocala there’s a big chunk of natural hills which is a rare sight in Florida. Also congrats on moving to Tampa, me and my girlfriend are probably going to movs there after we finish college. Heard it’s a much nicer place to live than down here in broward and wayyyyyy cheaper.

If you haven't been to Ft. DeSoto or Egmont Key state parks definetly go, especially around this time of the year. They are only an hour away from most of Tampa, and while they're not very /out/, they're better than all the touristy beaches especially during this time of the year. Other than that most /out/ings around here involve fishing, so I'd reccomend getting into that if you're not.

352 boi over here. You should definitely go out and do some day trips and get acclimated. Devil's den is a really cool spring but crowded, somebody else mentioned rainbow springs and that's been a favorite of mine and is pic related.
