I don't carry them. Simply because they're too gimmicky to be used, they're about as good as looking at the sun.

If you're serious about locating yourself on a map and following a path, you'll need a real compass. If you carry one of these, you probably don't need a compass.

Uh? That's what everyone thinks of when they hear "compass". You get taught how to use those in elementary school orienteering
