Okay so getting certifications and shit sounds super gay.

I'm a pretty good swimmer, in good shape, I'm mechanically inclined and I understand basic medical/scientific concepts.

Any reason why I can't just buy scuba gear, figure it out myself and then give it a go? I am certain I am do my own homework and be quite sufficient.

How hard could it really be?
