I've lived here now for THREE YEARS and haven't gone camping. It's pathetic. College is time consuming.
Can any Colorado anons recommend places a couple hours outside of Denver for good 2 or 3-day camping trips with moderate hiking? There's a fuckton of options. Weminuche looks great but it's sorta far away.
Just sort of overwhelmed with locations.

It’s gonna...not be very fun. The super common spots close to you are gonna be reserved and you’ll have to pay. Without a res or some bivvying you’ll end up in tweaked land on USFS land. You’ll have to drive a few hours to get somewhere outside. Like most of this state.

You cant just camp anywhere on national forest land near denver.
You have to be in designated dispersed camping areas with numbered spots.
Things have changed.
Its not really true dispersed camping anymore.
Once you get a bit further out, you can pull off a dirt ride and make camp but thats gonna be at least two hours from denver

from what I’ve read on the webs the state forests are generally open to dispersed camping in the true sense of the term. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong maps.
