Why not work in commercial fishing or farming of some sort? That way you’d get away from the rat race for a while but also learn something, meet people, and make money.

You should do it man. It might be a bad idea, it might not be. Only one way to find out. There are TONS of ready to go cabins, off-the-grid setups, cheap houses, etc... all over places like Montana and Idaho. It's a really low risk idea in the grand scheme of things.

Tbh, you should be grateful that you live in America and have the option to do things like this. People in Germany or Netherlands don't really have massive swathes of land they can fuck off to and buy ranches for dirt cheap
