Hiya Sc/out/s

Two of my mates and I, are going on a 4-5 day hiking trip / survival with packpacks through some wood / beach area along the coast.
We plan on bringing the essentials. (tent, fishing gear and firestarters, rope, compass etc.)

We are pretty much rookies to the whole hiking/survival thing thats why were packing all the gear.

>Do you experienced hikers / survivalists have any tips for three rookies who are going on a trip(stuff we woulden't think of bringing)?

Ddue, what are you exactly doing? Survivalism or Hiking?
In case of hiking:
Tent ( or something else to sleep under)
Sleeping mat
Sleeping bag ( or depending on the weather maybe just a blanket)
cooking gear, water bottle, and clothes and shoes up for th task and season, also raingear.

plus the 10 essentials:

Map
Compass
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Extra food
Extra water
Extra clothes
Headlamp / flashlight
First aid kit
Fire starter
Knife

Stuff all in a good fitting backpack, ad some duct tape and garbage bag and a swiss army knife and you should be fine. Be aware, 4-5 days takes a quite a bit of gear, so expect your packs to be in the 15-20kg range, that's quite some workout.

A bit of both.
We are gonna travel a distance of around 100 kilometers. We are gonna do some fishing along the way and stuff like that.

Ok, be aware that you will have to carry all your gear, including food and a suply of water. From what you're telling and depending on your kit this will add up to ~ 17-20 kg per person. 25km per day with such a load is hard work, I hope you lads got good backpacks, otherwise you're up for a hard lesson.

Have a solid plan for water before you set out. I won't overnight without knowing where my water is coming from and how I will treat it.

Meh splitting a three person tent into three backpacks should be doable.

No, it's essential.
I'd recommend a sack purifier, you can get one for as little as thirty bucks sometimes, and they're easy to use and durable.

Keep in mind that "expensive" doesn't necessarily mean "good", especially when it comes to backpacking gear.

Also a three person tent is general more than you really need for three people, they're sized for tent camping. But you can manage with it fine anyway, especially if you're not comfortable being too near your buddies.

I know, im just saying they're experienced hikers they should some clue as to what decent gear is.
One of my mates is a pretty heavyset fellow, I think the three person tent is neccesary lol.
