the biggest thing for me is I really enjoy running/fast walking over technical terrain so running is even more of that only faster, which in turn means you get to cover more ground which is cool
the feeling of running downhill on steep technical terrain is the shit, so much that on longer hikes I'll often only run downhill and fast hike uphill
even when I'm going just slow hiking with my non out friends or my gf I'll wear my running gear and go fast on the juiciest bits of trail for 10-15 mind then wait for them
in general in trail running there's a lot more walking/hiking even in pro races since its usually longer distances and can be very steep
also the best thing about trail running is I have a park 50m from my apartment in the city and can go for 30-60 min runs everyday after work, not much but enough out to stay sane
