What do I need to survive in the woods for a month?
I need to do something drastic in my life and this is what I'm thinking of. Essentially become a hermit for a month. Want to pack as little as possible. Please suggest anything

What I'm thinking so far:
>Hatchet
>Knife
>Multitool
>Bear spray
>Pot (for boiling water)
>Matches
>Tarps (for shelter)
>Sleeping bag
>Lots of clothing layers
>Rope/wire
>Rice, beans (dry goods that can be boiled)

Depends on your skills and experience. If you've never gone out in the woods before, you don't have any idea what your limits are. Semi off topic, but whenever I see natural shelters built like this, I can’t help but think tick/spider city. How do you deal with that?

Pacific northwest. It's spring here, snow is almost entirely melted. Biggest environmental worry would be damp ground and rain. I have gone camping plenty of times but never longer than 5 days, and always pretty much out of a car.

Can't do much about spiders. Could maybe make a raised sleeping platform or use a hammock? I'm not worried about them anyways. With ticks you just have to be vigilant. Cover hair as often as possible. Check neck, scalp, behind ears, armpits, legs, and crotch thoroughly. Can be removed with tweezers. We're primates, we're good at grooming.

you should consider a mess kit like pic related
it's a good pot with a lid and the lid doubles as a pan if you manage to catch some meat or a plate to eat off of
also maybe some fishing gear or a slingshot for small game

Learn about what edible plants there are in your area, most importantly learn the difference from the dangerous ones. Avoid eating anything that doesn't look right. If you do eat any wild plants, eat them in small amounts as your system won't be used to it at first.

Fuck matches. Take a plastic bag full of bic lighters like a prepper.
Dry goods go bad faster and easier than canned goods. Take canned beans and canned foods. Moisture is a bigger issue than anyone ever expects. Dry packets you find in a shoe box or new clothes, throw those in ziplock bags you use to keep things dry. Take a bag of like 40 new freezer bags. You should find a spot and build and stock a food shelter with canned goods before even moving there. Toilet paper. Be close to a water source for both water and fish. Have throw line and fishing supplies so you can get meat. Killing animals without a gun is not easy. Fishing is easy, unless you're a girl. Baby powder.

Shit if you are 30lbs overweight with fat then you can make 30 days with no food, only a water filter, a bottle of CentrumADULT multivitamins, and a lighter. It wouldn't be fun, but you'd make it.

Oh I definitely don't plan on Eating 3 square meals a day. It will suck at first but by all accounts you get used to it and your body goes into survival mode. After all we didn't evolve with such a steady supply of food.

If you're going somewhere with sunlight, it would be worth it to bring a pocket fresnel lens. That way even if all you stuff soaked or lost, at least you can still make fire.
