im a bushcrafter on a budget.
live in slovenia
few of decathlon stores
-i have 1/4 of my kit already and i decided to buy some stuff from decathlon. What gear does /out/ recommand?

Decathlon isn't as cheap as it used to be, I'm starting to buy chink shit with good ratings on aliexpress, the golden rule is to never buy clothes or from a shop with below average rating. Never had any complaint.

They're opening one up in my city soon, I like their "pop out" tents. I plan on going on lots of excursions this summer, so I'll check out a sleeping bag as well.

Their knives are decent for the price in my opinion (Solognac Sika 90 and Sika 130).

As usual, Chinese quality control...I have 2 Sika 90, one with the plastic scales and one with bone scales (it was on sale for 10€, I couldn't resist) and the one with bone scales came with 2 small chips on the edge, nothing that couldn't be solved with 2 or 3 minutes and a sharpening stone.

They are the same as the cheap Chinese aluminum ones you can find on ebay.

It's mostly the same stuff you get in other cheap first aid kits.

Don't really have much experience, but from what I've seen around their stuff is decent for the price.

yeah decathlon is pretty good for cheap random camping shit, but I know there's a lot of outdoor gear stores in Slovenia and it's a crime not to keep your eyes open for good deals
all that said my Quechua pop up tent served me well

Poland here.
Quechua stuff (wardrobe, boots, packs, tents) is cheap & decent.

Don't buy stoves, kitchenware or dishes or forks etc there, it's terribly overpriced.
Same for sleeping pads.

Buy those online.

Okay I'll be honest, my past experiences with decathlon aren't very good, the prices arent insanely lower than other slightly better branded stuff aswell. Heck even milsurp stuff like tarps would do you a better job in my opinion

Thats not bad.
I didn't review all items they have ever.
For example, month ago I found some pretty good deals on medium sized packs.
But I bet they will get much more expensive soon, if not ready.

For me, I look from a perspective of a guy who usses allegro-like stores & milsurp online-shops.

Because you could get something similiar for half that money elsewhere. If you're buying milsurp, you might even get something comparable for one or two €.

They have some decent stuff. Bought these hiking shoes a while back and they've served me very well so far. Also bought a tent there once. It was a good one for that pice but had better ones.
Other than that I prefer to buy my stuff in a local camping store or some stuff from Amazon

I find most of it small on all counts. Short and tight. I generally go a size up (always for tops) and everything becomes well fitting.

well you're just fat then, I'm 192 cm and L shirts and jackets are good for me, pants are all too short but that is to be expected when they don't have tall sizes
