I bought this Cugir AK bayonet with 20€, took it outdoors and it's pretty good, combined with the holster can be used as a wire cutter , it's length is aprox 30 cm and weights 0,4kg, I say that a bayonet would be more reliable than a hunting knife

I would love to take this and reshape the blade.

I own a western style bowie like the ones posted so far, and it was in terrible shape but the steel was great and high carbon. I reshapped a few things very slightly and sharpened it then gave it a rich grey patina and it is my current camp knife

no, i have one east german made from the 50s-60s. Its dull as sin, it works as a bayonet because you put your whole body behind it.

I have a BK7, it's a nice knife for the price but I barely use it anymore because it's too big for what I need.
I stripped the black coating and put some wooden scales on it. Rusts real easy if I don't keep it oiled, but I just hated that black coating.
Gonna make a leather sheath for it soon, then it can sit in my closet for another 6 months.

The pic is from like 4 years ago, excuse the other shit in there.

Consider doing a vinegar patina. It leaves a rustic grey finish. It wont look shiny, but it's very rust resistant from then on.

I thought about bringing mine to a mirror shine but it's a lot of work for a knife meant to be a workhorse. I ended up just taking off the ridges on the main part of the blade, which I assume were to help the black coating adhere to the blade.

Anyway, I end up taking this other knife pictured more often than not. A hatchet does me fine for just about everything else.

I'd leave the handle pretty much stock for the most part, I do like what he did with the thumb ramp. My bk 9 I modded, bk16 I need to redo the edge.

My main go to fixed blade is either the BK 16, or my Esee 4, I mostly just go bigger knives for larping purposes. Trying to do fine work with a Bk9, or Esee 6 is already kinda awkward. so I wouldn't be surprised if the 7 was the same way. I seem to use a Ontario Rat 1 folder more than a fixed blade, just due to limited belt space already on my belt (Mags, gun, utility pouch)

I used a straight white vinegar for my patina. There is very minimal rub off. I have had it on for 2 years with heavy use almost every week, and have not had to touch it up yet. It is completely harmless on food because of the food grade vinegar.
