Upper Michigan Gear Recommendations

No.1487304 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm tentatively planning a 3-5 (ish) day trip to upper Michigan to go backpacking this summer when I have some time off school. I'm sort of wondering what a good pack would look like. I've done a lot of camping before just not extended over multiple days and moving from location to location. I'm planning on moving, say, 40 miles or so.

I'm planning on bringing my Swiss M90 rucksack I picked up a few years ago as well as a tent for myself. Other notable items include sleeping bag, t shirt, flannel, work pants/jeans, socks, sweatpants for sleeping, good boots, a raincoat, hat, knife, (is a hatchet worth it?) basic medical supplies, as well as food like nuts, peanut butter, rice, water, flour, summer sausage. More things too, lights, batteries, compass, canteen, aluminum cooking ware, lighter, etc. The point is to try to fit everything I bring into my pack.

Are there any big recommendations you guys have? Or anything insanely stupid I've planned? Should I worry about animals or other dangers? I really appreciate any advice at all.
