I experimented with a borrowed pair of vibrums my size for cross country practice a few years ago in high school. Granted, its not trail running because the pace is faster, no stopping, and the distance much shorter but I was thoroughly unsatisfied. Its possible that one has to get used to running with them and alter their technique though. No idea how good they are for just normal walking.

you definitely have to get use to them. There are a lot of untrained muscles and tendons we don't use because of stiff, cramped modern footware. rope skipping could help to fix a lot of that.

These boot things look fucking retarded but I regularly use a pair of vibram five finger V-Train for weightlifting, jogging and a lot out /out/ activities.
The flat sole is perfect for weight lifting and although my feet had to adjust, they've really helped me correct my running form to be minimal impact and prevent shin splints I was getting.
As for /out/ activities, they're really durable while the sole lets your feet flex and form around uneven ground surfaces as if you're walking bare feet. Really nice feeling for short hikes or just generally walking around outside.

It's completely coincidence. I'm Germanic but my feet look nothing like the Germanic feet in that picture. Foot shape, like a lot of other physical attributes, is a complex mess of genetic and environmental factors. You can't just look someone's toes and say "Ah, I see you are of Roman descent!"

I didn't know there were so many foot shapes for a long time, but I think the message in the pic I posted was like an old wives tale when I found out and was researching. Seeing the post about the middle toe reminded me of that moment.

Actual studies (not books written by hippies) show that learning proper running form is largely irrelevant to what kind of footwear you actually run in. The USMC ran PT tests with marines running in modern trainers, old-style flat soled trainers, combat boots and barefoot style shoes. There wasn't a significant difference in performance or injury rate based on the style of footwear. You don't need to buy special shoes, just buy shoes that fit properly and focus on improving your form.

I was thinking the same. When I’m just around the house or working in my yard I’m barefoot. I’ve never had issues with foot oder or sweatiness. I try to use hiking boots with a lot of vents also.

Not necessarily, though yeah the difference is subtle. I also have that problem with the long second toe and I can never find gloves that fit right. I just end up cutting the index and middle fingertips off or make do with oversized gloves that don’t fit.

I have vibram kso evo.
They are about 4 years old and still in pretty good condition.
I walk in them every summer/fall in forests and local trips.
At first your feet hurt cause you are suddenly using muscles that were never used before but once you get used to it its quite fun.
I would say try it out yourself buy them do a trip in them and if you don't like them just return them.
For me it's one of those memes that I would buy again.
