Get ones that are not HDPE plastic. If they are HDPE, make sure they are black. Then UV won't make them brittle.

Yes, small tins. The kind bonbons or tobacco come in. They're waterproof as well, but they will never get brittle and are also fireproof.

These? Picked them up from a school trashcan last year. Notice the solid plastic shell, still thin and light weight; the lids sealed with an unbreakable lip, air tight against moisture, perfect for holding your salt, your toothpaste, your olive oil. Heck, you could hold all your carried water in these babies and hydrate with shots of the auld H2O, it's just that easy.
And all for free.

Yes, its called a sample bottle, you get it from your local pharmacy for urine samples and shit.
It ranges from 200ml to 40ml for the little ones for wart samples. You can even use the applicator as a little spoon.

Can confirm those urine sample containers from the pharmacist are leak proof. I used one to store ghee (clarified butter) which (melted and hardened but was mostly melted) during the hike. No dramas, and that ghee stuff was tasty and filling on crackers.

Behold the greatest small container on the market today.
