Poppy Field Death Squads.

In all seriousness there needs to be a strict enforcement policy for stepping off the designated and open trails by rangers and people visiting the park. Not the polite "please don't leave the trail" bullsh the nice ranger tried. These are urbanite californians, they won't listen to those warnings let alone even hear them. They will walk all over you if you let them. You have to be an asshole to shock these kids of people into being self aware.

It's not just that their stepping on the plants, but that their stepping on unique soils that allow for these blooms to happen. The soil in these places are very soft and the poppies require that to even grow. Stepping off trail not only kills the plants but compacts the soil. At 1:24 in the video is a scar left from people stepping off trail from the last superbloom in 2017.
Pic related. 2 week before and after picture Walker Canyon, which had to be closed for the rest of the season because the problem was so bad

It's in California m8, they have some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Honestly though, no guns are needed, just hire a couple more Rangers for the season and start issuing $250 fines to every single person who goes off trail and kicking them out of the park. I'm not a ranger but they need several cocky asshole "rangers" out there who have no sympathy and don't take any shit from anyone giving out tickets by the book-full to anyone who gets more than 1ft off the trails if they want that shit to stop. That dottering old woman ranger they have right now who just walks around saying, "Hey everyone, could you p-please stay on the paths, pretty please guise? Y-you're hurting the flowers ;_; " isn't cutting it anymore.
