I have tried cowboy coffee, those hard plastic french presses, and an old fashioned stovetop espresso maker. Ultimately the best option I've found for coffee inna woods is actually nescafe clasico instant coffee. It is the closest to a real cup of coffee I've had for the weight.
Recently however, I got food poisoning and was unable to eat or drink anything for 3 days. The caffeine withdrawal headache finally went away after 4, and I started questioning whether I actually wanted to go back to drinking coffee every day. I now have an 8oz cup on saturday and sunday, but have been drinking tea throughout the week every other day. This got me thinking, though... I can have a really good cup of tea innawoods for the same weight and volume as a shitty cup of instant coffee. Why wouldn't I do that? Does anyone else opt for tea instead of coffee while /out/?
