OP, I don't know your 'level' of /out/ (not trying to sound like a dick to you), but you're probably going to have to 'lower' your level of /out/ to help suit your friends and hopefully they'll get 'hooked' on camping and want to go more / be more independent with it.
Start by making sure you have some fun outside activities to bring with you, think along the lines of horseshoes, bocce balls, cornhole... make sure they bring a swimsuit if its warm enough to swim, and have some amenities with you. Bring a boombox or bluetooth speaker for music, some folding camp chairs, some good stuff to roast on a fire (smores, cast iron pie maker for hobo pies, or hobo pizza).
You have to dumb it down and 'make it fun'. Treat it (planning wise) like you are going with some 7 year olds. Teach them how to build a fire, gather tinder, make sure you have a cooler with some good bevs...
Most importantly!!! Make a checklist of what they should bring with them (Pillow, inflatable bed / sleeping pad (walmart sells twin mattresses for about 7 bucks, keep them comfortable), toiletries, tent, rechargable phone battery, snacks, go in on materials for food. If you are camping in a 'tourist' town, have a 'town day' to go explore, check out some shops, get some ice cream... FUN!!!!
