>>1505372Chances are he likes you too. He is a sweet boy.
>>1504521On his back? I’ve put about 60 pounds at a time and he’s never balked, I haven’t tried more yet but I’d bet money that he could handle at least 120.
>>1505491It’s actually really chill. My family has a 140 acre ranch here in central Texas and he just showed up one day. None of our neighbors said he was theirs so we think someone brought him out in a trailer, dumped him, and he found his way to us.
He’s sweet beyond all belief. Every time I come to the ranch he runs up to the car braying with excitement. He follows me around and let’s me pet him and like I said to the other anon he sometimes helps me carry heavy stuff around the ranch.
I’ve also learned a lot about donkeys and burros since we got him. At first I thought the mound on his neck was some sort of tumor, but apparently he just stores fat deposits there like a camel does on its back.
So he wasn’t sick, just really tubby.
I actually have this dream of rigging a pack and a lead for him, trailering him over to Conroe, and then through-hiking the Lonestar Trail with him. I know 120ish miles isn’t a whole lot, and the terrain is pretty flat, but it would be so nice just to spend a few days walking in the woods with my pack-donkey.
