So I finally got a girlfriend and now I have to go out and do stuff out of my room. I have decided to start with something comfy, like fishing. Is there like a basic kit for under $150 I can buy that includes all that basic stuff I'll need to catch some fish?

Walmart is fine but if you want to have a field day and spend more money than you probably should go to cabelas or bass pro shop get whatever you think looks cool and google how to use it later

OP listen to Bepis. You can find small tackle kits at Wal-Mart that'll have what you need to fish for panfish and small bass and if you live on the East Coast maybe spot croaker or small speckled trout. Pick up an Abu Garcia spinning rod and you'll be good to go.

Also we have a fishing thread on /out/. Please try to refer to it. Keeps all the fishing stuff in one spot and consolidates the info.

But he could also do:

Bring some gloves and before you take your girl out go fishing by yourself and when you catch a fish you will know how to handle it and any problems you have you can just look up. I would also being scissors , pliers to take the hook out of the fish. Also bring some patience, I got a barbed hook caught on the crown of my head and it hurt like a motherfucke by incorrectly casting so learn how to cast so you are prepared so you don't injure yourself or your gf. If you want to pull of something manly learn how to but and fillet a fish so you have dinner later just make sure to cook it well as some parasites love to be in fish.

Walmart should have everything you need. Pick up an ugly stick rod and shimano reel. They should also carry some pre-made tackle boxes with supplies already in it. Then look online for information about fishing in your area. Once you find out fishing spots and the species of fish there, look on youtube and go to the fishing general on /out/ for information on how to fish those species.

My girlfriend is Polish so maybe the more Conservative attitude there is part of this but she says it's attractive because it shows a man can provide.

I think fishing is probably one of the comfiest starter hobby for trying to get someone to go out. It’s very physically easy as well so even if she isn’t used to out she won’t be exhausted

this is all i had when i was 7
i cut the pull tab into a hook, i then sold whatever fish i caught (wasn't much) then saved the money to buy a actual fishing rod
